A night in Notting Hill

PR stay*

The hotel

Whilst I've visited Notting Hill a number of times, my stay at The Portobello Hotel was a first. A boutique hotel known for its high end guests, The Portobello is rather well known. We arrived on a wet Monday evening to a warm welcome. We were shown to our room, room 6, before receiving our bottle of prosecco, as offered in the deal that we had booked through. Red Letter Days kindly gave us the voucher for the experience, which included one night at the hotel, the prosecco and breakfast in the morning.

The room was large, with a gloriously sized bed, sofa area, and large bathroom. There is a coffee machine, separate shower and a bottle of hot chocolate ready for bedtime too. The view from room 6 is the lovely little courtyard at the back of the hotel. I'm not sure who owns the little garden, as you're unable to access it from the room, but it was just nice to sit and watch it in the morning with a cup of tea regardless.

In the dining room of the hotel is an honesty bar. Whilst I don't drink, the bar is a lovely little idea for guests to wind down with in the evening after a long day in the city. Breakfast in the morning is served in this dining room, or in the bedrooms themselves once pre-booked at reception. We opted for toast, cereal and some croissants, washed down with some juice and tea.

The local area

Notting Hill is, of course, famous in itself. The hotel is situated in an Instagram hotspot, close to Portobello Road, and a stones throw from some of my favourite spots. For a quick spot to eat, we opted for cream tea at Patisserie Valerie, about a 10-15 minute walk away from the hotel. For dinner it was Franco Manca, my favourite place for sourdough pizza. The hotel is close to stations such as Notting Hill Gate and Holland Park, where a fabulous pub called The Mitre is situated, somewhere we always opt for on a sunny afternoon for a slice of avo on toast.

Would I return to The Portobello Hotel? Absolutely. The hotel is lovely and somewhere I urge you to visit when stopping over in Notting Hill. Click here for my reel of the stay.

The stay was kindly gifted from Red Letter Days but all views are my own.
