I'm sitting here with a peach lemonade whilst the washing swings on the line outside and the sun burns my feet. Spring is finally here. The garden is ready to be sat in and the grass hasn't grown so quick in months, I'm very excited.
This calls for an overhaul of a wardrobe (like I need an excuse). I've gone for staples this season, not trends, as this one shoulder pink dress would tell you. Madonna would be proud, and I'm all for pairing it with a chunk belt to 2020 it up a tad, if you will. I've slipped into a pair of white mules from and paired it with a neutral bag to finish it off. Trends are a cycle, and whilst I hope leg warmers and shell suits aren't on the horizon, I am here for puffed shoulders and rouching on the waist any day.
The second outfit, whilst adding an even puffier sleeve, I'd class as a tad more understated. Bare with. The jacquard print is good to go for Spring, right through to Autumn and Winter with boots, as I've done here. White boot MAKE an outfit if you didn't know. Florals are perfect for the Spring, as we know and it fits PERFECTLY. It's a perfect picnic dress, and will do winders in the hotter months for keeping your shoulders out of the sun. A great all rounder I must say.

For me, Spring has always seemed a little more romanticised than the other seasons. New blooms, blossom trees, hatching of animals and love alike. With Valentines passing, we can look to warmer days and sweeter nights.
For Spring, ruffles and ruching are to die for. A lighter material paired with nude colours will go naturally. I've bought my first white lace dress, and floral lace dress for that matter, of the year, as it's time to start gathering the more delicate pieces for when the weather turns more on our side. One of my favourite new pieces is this Shein (gifted) dress, with the ruched detail and slightly layered skirt. It has tie straps, so perfect for those who struggle with lengths. It's not too short and perfect for a day trip, with sandals or even trainers, or a date night.

Of course the answer to the question is relative. Where have you bought it from? How good of a dupe is it? If it wasn't a dupe, would you buy it just because you liked it anyway? Dupe culture has risen in the past few years, with designer good being the way forward, and the national living wage not quite up to speed. I myself could never afford to splash hundreds or thousands on a piece of clothing, so I also head to the interwebs to see what I can find.
A prime example is this dress. Beautiful in it's own right. It has sat in my wardrobe for over a year for the fear it being far too OTT for drinks at the pub. I'm past that now, since putting it on twice in a week and falling back in love with it like I did the minute I opened it. It's a Zimmermann dupe, the Zimmermann's of which are not cheap. This dress is a near exact copy and to refer back to the earlier questions, yes I would have bought it even if I didn't know what it was meant to be. The dress, to me, is fabulous quality too, so a more premium dupe if you were. I really want to do a full post on where I pick out these dresses etc, so for now I shall keep it under wraps (but my dms are always open for secret telling).
I paired the dress the first time with a pair of (duped may I add) Chanel looking mules, the ones with the pearl on the heel. For this summery day you see before you, a pair of Primark's submission for the black strappy heel we're seeing everywhere. Stick on a pearl hair clip and grab your personalised Abbott Lyon (gifted) bag and you'll feel 100 quid, or at least I did.
High end looks at high street prices.
It's officially spring, by name and possibly not by nature. Outcome the mini skirt and heeled sandles and the bulky knits are banished to our lofts once again. This year I really feel like I know what I want to wear, and the key staple pieces I need to buy.
Midi dresses and skirts
These *hopefully* will never leave us. A flowy skirt in the June winds is a beauty, and paired with both a thin roll neck on the colder days or a strappy cami in the sun, they are a must.
Woven and wooden
As many may know, stilettos are not for me, mainly because I can't walk, and remind myself of a goat when trying. Thicker, shorter heels are a-go. These Miss Selfridge ones are hitting all the trends with the wooden heel and woven material. LOVE.
Floral
Flowers.. for Spring? Groundbreaking. But it's true. A classic. That is all.
Beige.
Obviously.
Gingham
Oh my have I been won over on this one. Imagine year 9 Katie, sitting behind a sewing machine in the tech room, swearing blind she'll never touch another piece of gingham once she's done making her pink pyjamas. What is it, like 7 years later? Here we are. I love it. It's been the only thing I've searched for recently. I want it all (and by all I mean the yellows and beiges, obviously).

Premium high street is something I can very much get behind. Investing more in longer lasting pieces has been at the forefront of my mind for a while, so this Gant V neck jumper fitted perfectly into my plan, but also my wardrobe. When I hear the word jumper, I think of winter, a big puffy coat and the thickest jeans I own. But here I opted for a... skirt. A short one too. This beige one is from New Look, with last year's tortoise shell button trend steaming into SS19. I think it matches perfectly. The jumper is very soft, and I'm very protective about folding and hanging it, and I'll be heading to the dry cleaners from now on.
Tights tights tights. Wear them. I used to call them my 'tan tights' because even the literal see through ones would still give my pale legs a slight colour. They also smooth everything out and feel a bit like you've Facetuned them without the hassle. Not that anyone needs to smooth them, I just fancied it.
As we are all very much aware, I wear white everyday, near enough. So what do you match a white jumper and beige skirt to? More white is the correct answer. These Boohoo boots have done me very well for the past month or so and I regularly walk to work in them (and a certain cobbled streeted light district in Amsterdam recently but that's besides the point). Love a good 60s vibe. The bag is Mango and one I've shown many, many times on my Insta. M a n y t i m e s.
I'm very happy with this little outfit, and am just waiting on the wind to stop, Storm Garath to leave, and the rain to stop being a bother, to wear it more often.
I've had many compliments on it already, including the 'I'm going to have to get mine out of the loft now'. Sure, it's not the classic Burbs, we can all dream, but it does the job well enough. The stone colour compliments my entire wardrobe completely. Even if you fancied wearing... black... a beige top layer would do you very well.
The coat is both minimalist, and statement. You know when people are looking at what you're wearing, but you'll rarely feel OTT in the middle of a crowd. Unless that's what you want. Then get it in ALL the colours. To conclude, I don't see this spring staple being off trend any time soon. A classic, wearable piece for years to come.
