I'm not sad, and never having a valentines day hasn't left me wishing for one either. We're not overly romantic people at all (I'll make him one day) but for now that's fine with me. The whole "love is year round thing" works more for us. We're not lovey dovey at all, but it's the "I saw this and thought of you" or "lets travel instead of presents this year" type thing we're into.
I love seeing the seas of red and pink in the shops in February, but overpriced plastic flowers aren't my thing when the real ones are half the price round the corner. Am I dressing for V day? Yes, in pink and white and floral. Am I obsessing over a dinner reservation? No. Am I excited for our first trip of the year on Sunday? Absolutely.

Gifted AD| Not all Valentines days must be spend with a potential life partner. It could, instead, be spent with the other most important people in your life... the girls.
Now, I'm not one with many friends I shall say. In Fact the idea of galentines still leaves me on edge, that anyone would spend their time with moi instead of someone of greater importance. This year however, I'm spending V day weekend in Rome with the boyfriend, so the 14th is free to plan a night in with the other people that I've grown fond of over this past year or so.
Step one: Matching PJs
Here I'm sporting my new pj set from Shein. It's pink, frilly, and perfect for V or G day as you will. Buy a few sets, everyone matches, and e all feel like we've got our lives together for one night of the year at least.
Step two: FOOD
I don't know anyone who doesn't love a bit of food on a Friday night. Awful, fatty, bad for you food I mean. I'm a masala kind of gal, or pizza- if it's with the edges and the cookie dough too obviously.
Step three: Wine
Now, this could also be exchanged for gin, Lambrini (don't judge me) or any other alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverage that suits your fancy.
Step four: Going... out
In exchange for Step two and three, and moving step one down a few pegs to 2 or 3 am, going out to a themed evening isn't such a bad idea. Tonight Josephine is pink anyway for example, and a small, female dominated bar is a fab place for a gals night out.
Other steps (because nothing makes sense anymore)
You could opt for a galentines morning, for brunch if work is not a necessity, or a nails date. The gossip had over a cup of tea at the local salon is not to be missed. Afternoon tea is another dainty, girly option for those who can't decide between sandwiches and cake, so opt for both. And finally, if you're really stuck for ideas, a girly spa day is never off the table. Book a neck and back massage and forget the boys completely.

If I had an other half, (in dreamland apparently) and the choice of a present was asked, my first thought wouldn't be chocolate or flowers, but makeup (or a cat). I've sourced out the pinkest, princessy packaging that I could find, full of the most perfect presents for the beauty lovers this Valentines day.
Budget/drug store:
MUA Whipped velvet blush- My second (broke the first) blush in this gorgeous pink shade. I'm not a huge blush girl and only need a tiny bit of this to make my pale dead skin look a little bit alive.
Nails Inc polish- As we are know, I rarely do anything to my nails as I end up anxiously picking the varnish off if I do. If I do decided to paint them, I use this pinky nude shade from Nails Inc as it dries quickly and I don't always need a second layer.
Millie Mackintosh eyeshadow pallet- I'm not sure how easy the MM beauty range is to get since the Christmas sets aren't available anymore. However the rose gold packaging of this quad is gorgeous and the shades themselves are great to layer with.
Pur Velvet matte lip colour- Never have I tried a lip colour that I instantly loved so much. I was able to line my non existent lips with this so easily too, and I just love it. LOVE it.
Highend:
Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara- This high end mascara is coveted in the beauty world. It's a must try for all in the search for the perfect pairing.
Too Faced Peach Kiss lipstick- I call them the princess lipsticks. The gorgeous shades are one thing, but the detail engraved on each one is actual artwork. I must collect them all.
Too Faced Sweetheart blush- When Makeup revolution brought out the cheap dupes for these, I thought I'd won the lottery. When I received the actual Sweetheart blush as a PR gift, I could have cried. The colours are so vivid and I've also used it as an eyeshadow too.
Laura Geller Fifty Kisses lip colour- After trying the shade Love Blush, I'd kinda hooked and I now want more. Thanks Laura.
Valentines day. Love it (ha) or hate it, love is a sauce to be spread this Feb. When working with bakerdays I thought to myself, who do I love the most in this world. The cat can't eat cake so I sent the most important person a little present. To me, from me x The cake is a letter box cake. This means that it is delivered in the tin, with balloons, candles and a 'for you' card, THROUGH THE LETTERBOX. And it does not disappoint.
I've recently worked with a dating app company on a date day post, so to honor that, I ordered this 'swiping' design on the cake. I chose this fetching photo of myself eating a cake and added the caption, as bakerdays' cakes are customizable.
Taste test
Since 2003, when my brother turned 5 and had an Action Man birthday cake, I've hated icing. That little jolly bit of frosting made me sick and since then had put me off cake in general. I do however, love chocolate, and will opt for a nice choc option instead. When ordering you letterbox cake, you get an option from a range of red velvet, lemon, fruit, chocolate and even dairy or gluten free sponges.
I'm a picky eater and the cake tastes.. like a cake should. Shall be having more with cups of tea of an evening for sure.
Cakes can be ordered for next day delivery, or choose a date for delivery like I did. It's a perfect little present that I'm sure your other half (or yourself) won't be expecting this Valentines. Find it on www.bakerdays.com
